About the job
Commitment: ~10 hours per week (U.S. remote)
Reports to: Data Research Director
As a Data Research Volunteer, you will play a key role in collecting and scraping online data from publicly available websites and resources. Your work will directly contribute to building comprehensive datasets that inform nonprofit programs and advocacy.
What you'll do:
Research and identify relevant websites and online sources across assigned categories
Scrape and extract structured data using provided tools (low-code platforms like Apify, Phantombuster, or Python scripts)
Assist in cleaning and organizing scraped data for analysis
Document sources, scraping methods, and challenges encountered
Collaborate with team members remotely and participate in weekly check-ins
What we're looking for:
Basic knowledge of web scraping tools or programming (Python preferred)
Familiarity with data collection, cleaning, or research methodologies
Detail-oriented and able to document processes clearly
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote setting
Passion for Asian American & immigrant community issues and nonprofit work
